Mirrors on the Wall is compiled of hand picked hair stylists dedicated to providing the best in modern hair color and innovative cutting techniques to enhance your natural beauty and reflect your personal style.

Brandy Barchanowicz

A Dinwiddie native, Brandy’s roots run deep in the community. She is passionate about people and strives to provide a space where her team and guests are always uniquely cared for, feel encouraged and valued.

Behind the chair, she believes thorough consultation is the key to reaching realistic hair goals. Always listens attentively and give you the best options to suite your style of living. She loves putting a modern spin on all the classics. Brandy specializes in multidimensional hair color and gray coverage solutions. She enjoys playing with different techniques to create a custom look for each guest.

When out of the salon, Brandy enjoys house projects, activities with her kids, adventures with her husband and quality time with her extended family.

Level 5 Stylist

Danielle Tucker

Danielle started her hair journey at Mirrors on the wall right after completing cosmetology school becoming the beauty bridge co-founder in 2008. Over the years, she has received training classes in NYC, Florida, Nashville and many others right here in RVA. Primarily devoted to Redken courses. She is a certified Redken Specialist, Blonde and Design Authority.

She loves to share her knowledge with her clients, mapping out a detailed plan of action for each service to ensure her guests are comfortable. Danielle specializes in dimensional color and customized haircuts. She strives to enhance their natural assets, leaving them feeling uplifted after their visit.

Outside of the salon, Danielle enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.

Level 4 Stylist

Katie Gooden

Katie started her career at Mirrors on the Wall in 2014 as a salon apprentice. She quickly became a licensed cosmetologist in 2015, absorbing all the education put in her pathway. She has a deep thirst for knowledge and a love of learning. Katie is a curly haircut specialist, a certified Mizani Aircut Professional, Certified Redken Specialist as well as a Shades EQ specialist and a Redken Design Authority.

Katie loves lived in low maintenance looks for her guests. She is a balyage specialist designing looks with lots of depth and dimension that grow out seamlessly. She also thrives during a challenge and likes to switch things up for clients that want something tready and fun.

Beyond her chair, Katie is a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She’s on a continual journey of growth and self-discovery. She loves a good podcast, game nights with friends and time with her family.

Jessica Roberts

Jessica has been a color specialist at Mirrors on the Wall since 2016. Her career started as a salon apprentice and quickly flourished into a now industry journey with over 14 years of experience.

Jessica is a certified Redken Blonde Authority. As a hair colorist and designer, Jessica enjoys modern blonde techniques as well as classic foil placements and dimensional color services. She has a way of making all her guests feel at ease and stepping away from her chair feeling like a million bucks.

Jessica is a devoted wife, mother of three, daughter and friend. She has an impeccable eye for interior design and fashion. She loves to travel and is always down for any adventure.

Level 4 Stylist

Ashley Bookman

Ashley has been in the Beauty Industry since 2002. Beginning in High School, she attended Rowanty Technical Center, obtaining her Cosmetology license upon graduation. She joined Mirrors on the Wall in 2009 making it a family affair. Brandy, the owner, and her are cousins and have been close all their lives.

Ashley plays a key supporting role in the salon. Most days she’s the first face you see when entering the salon managing our guest services. Early in her career, she specialized in nail and texture services. Shifting gears in 2012 she decided to focus on short clipper cuts. She now specializes in styles for men and boys. She loves a good laugh and, more often than not, is the culprit behind a good practical joke.

On the weekends, Ashley loves to be outside. Most of the time at the ball park cheering on her girls’ softball games. She is a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and aunt.

Level 2 Stylist

Karlie Young

Karlie joined us in the summer of 2023.  She is newly licensed with 5 years experience in multiple areas of cosmetology.  She started her career as a makeup artist doing onsite, formal hairstyles and makeup for special events.  As her passion for people and hair grew, she completed a cosmetology apprenticeship program.

Karlie is currently blossoming in her craft as a hair colorist.  We are thrilled to have her flourish with us.  In her free time Karlie enjoys working out, spending time on the water with friends and her fur baby.

Level 1 Stylist

Rachael Peterson

Rachael is our fresh talent. She started her career at Mirrors on the Wall as a salon assistant, transitioned into an apprenticeship and recently became a licensed cosmetologist.

She loves getting to know her guests and making each one feel relaxed. She’s sincere and thoughtful in all her actions and loves building personal connections.

Rachael continues to advance her skill set in all areas while perfecting her foundational techniques and principles. Outside of the salon, Rachael devotes her time to challenging herself at the gym dedicated to her fitness. She loves live music, quality time with friends and family, especially the four-legged ones.

Assistant

Taylor Williams

As the newest member of the Beauty Brigade, Taylor brings a cool, calm and collected vibe to the salon.

She is a recent high school graduate, achieving this milestone at age 16. Taylor has aspirations of becoming a hairstylist in the future.

In the summer of 2023 she will start her journey through cosmetology school while continuing to have a key support role for our stylists. You might also spot her beautiful face at the local pizza place where she is a part-time server. She is ambitious and has a strong work ethic that we know will take her far.

In her free time,Taylor enjoys time with her friends and family.

Our Stylist Levels

New talent

Level 1
Stylists that are newly licensed. They are gaining and developing the skills necessary to provide specialist quality services. They offer a limited-service menu. They are receiving training in most areas of the principles of hair cutting and coloring services. They offer the most budget friendly services.

Rising Star

 

Level 2
Stylists with at least one year’s experience with us or that are new to the beauty brigade with some experience elsewhere. They are competent in foundational cutting and coloring skills. These stylists are working to build their confidence as they sharpen their skill set.

Certified

Level 3
Stylists with a minimum of 3 years’ experience. They have a solid foundation in advanced services and/or a particular specialty with certifications. They are equipped to handle major color transformations and intricate haircuts.

Specialist

Level 4
Stylists at this level usually have 5+ years of experience. They are fully developed having mastered an advanced skill set and specialize in a chosen area of expertise. Some are educators that help to mentor, train and inspire our new talent.

Master Specialist

Level 5
Our industry leaders and masters of their trade. They are fully established and carry a reputation for excellence. They have the highest demand for the services they offer, specializing in advanced coloring techniques and custom tailored haircuts.
